VAI (Vormittag Associates, Inc.), a leader in enterprise solutions for the distribution, manufacturing, retail and service industries, and an IBM Premier Business Partner, has announced the successful implementation of its S2K Enterprise Portal and S2K Enterprise for Distribution software for the National DCP (NDCP). The Bellingham, Massachusetts–based company services over 6,000 Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin Robbins outlets worldwide, via four regional distribution centers throughout the United States.
S2K Enterprise Portal provides the National DCP with reliable Web-based access to data from three of their four strategically located distribution centers—the Mid Atlantic DCP, Southeast DCP, and Northeast DCP—, which service the product needs of both Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin Robbins stores located in these regions. S2K Enterprise Portal, an e-Commerce solution based on IBM’s WebSphere Portal server, supplies employees and customers with the information needed for informed decision-making.
VAI’s S2K Enterprise for Distribution was highly customized to fit the National DCP’s business needs. With annual revenues in excess of $1 billion and a staff of over 1,100 employees, the company needed a solution that provided intuitive templates for users to place orders over the Web without a great deal of training. Additionally, the suggested application now provides customers with order histories based on a four-week average—simplifying inventory management at the store level. S2K has given the National DCP a platform to unify business processes nationwide and improve customer service, overall.
The National DCP had been a VAI customer for 20 years, when it decided to upgrade to the latest version of S2K for Distribution and implement an e-Commerce solution, in an effort to bring all regional distribution centers onto one enterprise package. Beverly Ring, IT Manager, National DCP, commented, “VAI dove into our business, making it their mission to understand what we needed to accomplish and how quickly we could meet our end goal. They essentially became part of our team and intimately familiar with our business processes. VAI’s knowledge of the distribution industry and the National DCP’s specific model, coupled with the firm’s excellent design and coding skills, were invaluable to this project’s success.”
“VAI was able to successfully integrate three previously disparate systems,” said Todd Endsley, Director, eBusiness Solutions, VAI. “S2K Enterprise Portal has unified the buying power of the regional distribution centers, allowing franchise owners to order supplies and equipment—with access to a fully automated online equipment catalog—from one resource, rather than having to access different Web sites for stores owned in different regions. This is a significant timesaver for franchisees with multiple locations.”
